Memoir Ghostwriting Client
“I have felt safe the whole way through this process. As someone writing about past trauma, that was so important to me. To have the work feel approachable and safe. Thank you.”
Empowerment through Book Writing
Memoir ghostwriting and non-fiction ghostwriting with me involves more than just nailing down plot points and character transformation. We will get into the structural and technical details…
But in addition to the storytelling, structure, grammar, and punctuation, what I’m here to support you with is deep healing work on a soul level.
I offer trauma-informed ghostwriting. I understand that revisiting painful memories can be retraumatizing. I create a safe container for your story, pacing our interviews thoughtfully and offering grounding practices when needed. You'll never be pushed to share more than you're ready to.
I’ll also help you learn about the publishing industry and what path is right for you.
Investment
Investment depends on the project. Some books are more complicated than others. Pricing depends on project complexity and timeline.
My ghostwriting fees start at $50,000 for a clean, full-length, proofread manuscript that’s ready for print. Most manuscripts are around 50,000-70,000-words, but writing a book is about so much more than word count. It’s also about having a strategic thought partner who can bring your vision to life and help you open new doors.
Payment plans are available.
For comparison, Forbes Magazine in June 2023 reported that the average for a standard 50,000-word business book is $75,000.
Book Proposals
Want to pitch your book idea to a publisher and stand out? A strong proposal gives you a head start on writing and shows what it’s like to work with me. It includes a detailed synopsis, marketing plan, competitive research, author bio, and two sample chapters.
Investment: $20,000 and up
I specialize in ghostwriting non-fiction books across a variety of categories, including health and wellness, women’s empowerment, leadership, business, relationships, career growth, coaching, creativity, psychology, personal development, new age spirituality, energy healing, and self-help.
I also write memoir, literary memoir, dark memoir, and unique genre-bending books.
I love helping my ghostwriting clients transform pain into purpose on the page.
I’m here to help you understand your unique voice and bring your book to life in a way you’re proud of.
Whether I’m writing your personal story for a memoir or crafting a non-fiction book to highlight your work as a business leader or coach, my process will guide you into knowing yourself in a new and profound way.
My unique memoir ghostwriting process involves deep healing work. When you work with me you get access not only to my writing skills and ability to craft a compelling narrative— I’m also here to support you with healing tools, meditation, breathing exercises, Reiki, gentle yoga, and shamanic journeying to help you connect with the deepest parts of your soul. These aren’t required but they can add so much to the book writing journey.
Clients finish the process feeling empowered, excited, and curious about what new opportunities they’ll discover because they’ve used their voice in a completely new and life-changing way.
Professional Book Ghostwriting That Supports You as a Whole Person
Client Who Hired Me to Co-Write a Collaborative Fiction Book
“Creative, precise, poised, timely and professional are all characteristics that describe Rachel’s work. In very short order I came to trust Rachel as both a ghostwriter/editor and as a person. Rachel also went beyond the role of a traditional editor and has helped both creatively and from a business perspective, all the while maintaining an exceptional client/writer relationship in what is a high-pressure environment. The end result: We’ve engaged her for other projects and will continue to do so. Highly recommended.”
Memoir and Non-Fiction Ghostwriting as a Book Shaman
As a book shaman, I go far beyond the typical ghostwriting experience. For clients who are interested, I bring my background in the healing arts into the process. This helps authors embody courage and transformation as we write the book together.
My work is part writing, part healing, part initiation. Together, we journey through your memories and alchemize the pain, name what was once unspeakable, and reclaim your voice in full.
Many of my clients shed a past version of themselves in the process.
Whether you a processing past trauma or bringing together the most meaningful moments of your life onto the page, I’m here for you. I’m holding sacred space and guiding you through a trauma-informed process.
Some projects are deeply emotional; others are strategic and business-focused. I can hold space for both.
This is about creating a manuscript you’re proud of and a life you’re proud of. It’s about deep listening, energetic protection, emotional integration, and honoring the soul of your book. Your story becomes a sacred portal—one that sets you free from any lingering bits of self-doubt or self-limiting beliefs.
FAQs
What’s your pricing?
My ghostwriting services for a full-length memoir or nonfiction book (typically 50,000–80,000 words) start around $50,000 and can range up to $75,000 or more, depending on the scope and timeline of the project.
Ghostwriting is a deeply collaborative process that often takes 9–12 months or more from start to finish. The investment reflects not only the writing itself, but also the depth of interviews, research, story development, editing, and project management involved. Every project is different—some clients come with extensive notes or a rough draft, while others need help shaping their ideas from scratch.
Factors that influence cost include:
Complexity of the story: trauma-informed or research-heavy material often requires additional care and time.
Timeline: expedited or time-sensitive projects require more dedicated hours.
Level of involvement: whether you want a full ghostwrite, a co-writing partnership, or a developmental edit and coaching hybrid.
When we work together, I guide you through a clear, supportive process—from interviews and outlining to drafts, feedback rounds, and publication readiness. Payment plans are always available, and every project begins with a detailed proposal so you know exactly what’s included.

Is ghostwriting really that expensive? Who has $50,000+ to spend on a book?
Great question! Ghostwriting is a premium service because it involves deep, immersive, and time-intensive work. The investment reflects the quality, expertise, and level of personal attention you’ll receive throughout the process. I charge what I do because:
I have years of experience as a seasoned writer, editor, and storyteller. I am not a beginner.
You’re getting a life-changing, high-quality service with a focus on detail, emotional depth, and storytelling excellence.
This is my soul’s work. Not only do I commit to writing a professional, polished book that’s ready to publish, but I am also here to ensure that your message is heard and that the process is transformative for you. This requires significant creative energy, commitment, and time.
My process is highly personal—over months of collaboration, you’ll have frequent access to me, often on a weekly (and sometimes daily) basis. We’ll meet in person (and/or virtually) and spend a lot of time discussing and shaping your story. I will also spend a significant amount of time with you discussing how you want to publish and launch the book so you feel ready once the manuscript is complete to move it forward into a finished book. This includes helping you make decisions like whether self-publishing or traditional publishing is right for you, thinking about who the audience is for the book and how to sell it, and preparing yourself for stepping into the spotlight with your story. Ghostwriting is a comprehensive process and the highest level of commitment in how I work with clients.
Why is investing in a ghostwriter worth it?
Think about the last time you made a significant investment in your life—something that truly changed you. Maybe it was traveling abroad to immerse yourself in a new culture, buying a house or car that symbolized stability or freedom (that you then got to enjoy every day for years of your life), investing in your education or personal development, starting your own business, committing to therapy or coaching for personal growth, relocating to begin a new chapter, or embarking on a life-changing retreat or wellness experience. Each of these decisions required a financial commitment, but the value they brought into your life was far beyond just money. They changed you, expanded your worldview, and opened up new possibilities for your future.
I’ve had my own experiences with making big investments in my life. One of the most transformative was when I invested in my first international retreat. At the time, it felt like a huge leap—both financially and emotionally. But that retreat was pivotal. It gave me the space to reconnect with my creativity and purpose. It helped me make breakthroughs in all areas of my life. Looking back, I can confidently say it was worth every penny.
That’s the kind of transformation I offer through my ghostwriting process. I’m helping you craft a story that could change everything for you and for those who read it.
I’m helping you achieve a huge dream (sometimes a lifelong dream) of stepping into a new identity— the author and leader of your life. The one who has processed your past and moved on from it. The one who is helping readers around the world transform, too.
That’s worth a lot.
Do you offer payment plans? How does that work?
Yes, I understand that the investment in ghostwriting can be a significant one. To make the process more accessible, I offer payment plans. Typically, we break the total amount into several payments, starting with a deposit upfront, followed by scheduled payments throughout the project. Let's chat to figure out what works best for you!
How many books do I need to sell to make back my investment?
This is a question that many authors ask. But keep in mind: book sales alone aren’t usually the best way to measure your ROI.
Instead of asking, “How many copies will I sell?” try asking, “What doors will this book open for me?”
A book is often a springboard, not just a product. Many authors recoup their investment (and then some) through the opportunities that follow: speaking engagements, media features, podcast interviews, new clients, corporate trainings, retreats, courses, or brand partnerships that emerge because they’ve positioned themselves as an expert or thought leader.
Your book becomes a key that unlocks the next chapter of your career or creative path. In fact, one of my clients made back his entire book investment after landing just one keynote talk inspired by his story.
How long does it take to write a book?
The timeline can vary depending on the complexity of the project, but generally, it usually takes anywhere from 6 to 12 months to complete a full-length book. This timeline includes our initial meeting (I suggest we spend a weekend in person together), research, interviews, multiple drafts, revisions, and polishing. We’ll work closely together throughout the process, and I’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
What’s the process like working with a ghostwriter?
The process starts with a deep dive into your idea. We'll work together to outline the structure, tone, and message of your book. From there, I’ll begin writing a few chapters, and we’ll have regular check-ins where I’ll share the work, gather your feedback, and revise accordingly. It’s a collaborative process, so you’ll be an active participant in shaping the book, but I’ll guide the writing to make sure it feels authentic and polished.
As a book shaman, I also love incorporating healing work into the process. This can include Reiki energy healing sessions (in-person or distance), breathwork, guided visualization, yoga classes, a personalized plan for you to do at home (a mix of yoga, breathwork, meditation, or other practices), shamanic journeying, or ceremony at different parts of the process (for instance, a cord cutting or fire ceremony to release negative memories from your past). Note: I do not lead medicine ceremonies (I’m actually sober and love the sober life!). If all of this sounds too woo-woo for you, I get that! We don’t have to focus on the spiritual aspects of book writing; we can stick to more of the technical process. But if you are interested in exploring these sacred practices, I’m here for that!
How involved do I need to be in the writing process?
While I’ll do the heavy lifting of writing, your involvement is essential. I’ll need your input to fully capture your voice, ideas, and vision for the book. We’ll have in-depth discussions and share ongoing feedback. You’ll be a key collaborator throughout the project, ensuring that the finished product is truly your story, told your way.
One thing I’m committed to in my writing career is being open to feedback. I love feedback. Colleagues at a past copywriting job and clients have often told me how much they appreciate my openness in receiving feedback and not taking it personally when something needs to be re-worked. As a professional writer, I’ve learned to have a thick skin while still keeping an open heart, which I think is rare :) I’m happy to chat more about this with you if you have questions on it.
Will your name be on the book?
No, as a ghostwriter, I’m here to make your story shine without seeking credit. My name will not appear on the book (unless you really want it to, and that’s a discussion we can have if needed). I will work behind the scenes to make sure the book feels like it’s truly yours. However, if we decide on co-authoring or another arrangement, that can be discussed upfront.

Why Clients Are So Glad They Invested in a Book
When people first hear that ghostwriting a memoir or nonfiction book can cost $50,000 or more, they often raise an eyebrow. A lot of times this is because they don’t know the going rates for professional books, and that’s okay. But as you research ghostwriting, you’ll discover that there are a number of reasons that make this investment incredibly worthwhile. Here’s why.
You’ll have way more time to live life.
Instead of spending years trying to fit writing into an already full schedule, you’ll be free to live, travel, rest, and enjoy your life while your story is beautifully written in the background. You’ll still be investing time in the project, but it’s far less time than if you were to write the book yourself.
You’ll say everything you’ve always wanted to say.
Many clients tell me, “You helped me find the words I could never quite articulate.” There’s a huge relief in finally telling the story you’ve been wanting to share with the world, and it opens up your voice in a powerful way.
You’ll feel safe throughout the process of getting the story out.
Writing within a trauma-informed framework and moving at a pace that works for you is important. With me as your ghostwriter, know that holding safe space is a high priority for me and your wellbeing will always come first. I’ll help you shape your book into a powerful narrative while also honoring your nervous system and emotional needs in the process. No, I’m not your therapist, but yes, I am following a therapeutic process. You’ll receive emotional support from start to finish.
You’ll gain new insight into your life story and the subjects you teach.
My interview process is designed to help you connect the dots between past and present, recognize patterns, and find healing in seeing your story laid out clearly.
You will use your book to grow your impact.
Your finished manuscript becomes a foundation for workshops, retreats, speaking opportunities, and new business ventures. With a background in marketing, I’ll be guiding you to think big about your author platform and how this book will change the trajectory of your career and networking opportunities.
You’ll finally feel seen and heard.
There’s something sacred about having someone truly listen to your story and reflect it back in words that honor your truth and your power.
By hiring a ghostwriter, you’ll be able to stay focused on your why, not the how.
You won’t have to learn the mechanics of writing, editing, or publishing. You’ll have time, focus, and mental capacity to stay connected to the deeper purpose behind your story without getting bogged down in the details.
